          2. Summary of my idea

My idea was to create something with parts of the body. Combine the both separated parts which are not related together so it have the weird look. Then I thought of hairs growing out from my nails. Then I took pictures of my hands showing my fingers clearly and also shot of a small bunch of my hair then combine them together.

Part 2: Mock Up (Week 10)

I've took two of the objects I wanted to use in the studio on Week 11. Which were my hair and fingers respectively. Here are the two pics I took with the lighting and background setup in studio.

fig 9.1 - shot of my hands

fig 9.1.1 - shot of strokes of my hair

First of all, I opened both of these pics in Photoshop and mask them out with the pen tool.

fig 9.2 - hands done masking

fig 9.2.1 - stroke hairs done masking

Next, I wanted to make the hair into the curvy shape of the nail bottom, so I used pen tool and divide path for the hair following the curve line of the nail. Once done, I place it on the fingernail part. Then repeat for each of the fingers.

fig 9.3 - stroke hairs done divided using path

fig 9.3.1 - stroke hairs place on fingernails

fig 9.3.2 - stroke hairs place on each fingernails

Afterwards,  I added white strokes using brush tool in between the edge of the hair and nails so it looks more naturally combined. Besides, I also did applied dark brown strokes on the hair part to create contrast on the edge of the hair part so it looks more 3D and also to sharpen to curve shapes of the hair so it looks more like nails on finger.

fig 9.4 - strokes applied on hair  for effect

Then I think that nails with same colours aren't them too bored and no fun to see. So, I applied different hues/saturation for each of the hairy nails~

          fig 9.5 - colourful hairy nails :3

Lastly, I added a background for the artwork by applying a solid colour layer on the bottom.
