Week 1: Short brief on our courses expectations and outlines throughout this semester. We were being introduced to our next week exercise, collage. And were advised to bring materials for that exercise.

Week 2: We were doing collage in classes and we were asked to make 3 compositions and upload it to the google sheet provided and then we need to choose our final collage design next week with its story content.

Week 3: Mr.Fauzi asked us to turn in our three compositions of collage into google classroom so he could pick for us for our final submission. We were taught on how to use Adobe Photoshop on composing digital collage.

Design #1:

Description:

I like how the way it was being captured and bring out with the contrast of the ocean and blur out the couples. The colour theme is so warm which looks so comfortable.

Design #2:

Description:

I’m actually a ocean lover. So I’m kinda into photography and arts related to ocean and waves. In this one, the curves of the waves are so clean and detailed which perfectly combined with the tone of the sky. The shades of the waves blend wonderfully with the tone of the sky. It’s adjusted into blue in the temperature.

Design #3:

Description:

This film gives nostalgic feels. I love bnw photographies alot too. This one is so artistic and was full of exploration for viewers as it’s blurry. It looks like couples playing around and hugging each other for me.

  2. Using the same Photoshop file, improvise your WEEK 3 digital collage into WEEK 4 by using Adjustment Layers & Filters on Photoshop.

  3. Explain what you’ve learned in the description section.

WEEK 3 - PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION)

DESCRIPTION:

Through digital collage exercise given, I’ve learnt on how to cut out shapes from different  sources with using pen tools, lasso tools and magic wand etc. I also learnt that different tools are being used on different situation. For example, pen tool is used to cut out elements with complicated backgrounds and specific outlines we wanted to choose. However, magic wand can cuts out shapes or elements we want with plain or fixed colour in background. By using photoshop to create collage, it’s much easier and convenient.

WEEK 4 (ADJUSTMENT LAYERS & FILTERS )

DESCRIPTION:

After Mr.Fauzi picked for our best composition, we were asked to do adjustment, layers and filters on this one. With this skill learnt, we can change the colour of an specific object which we don’t want the original want. This skill is good for future as in the future as a Photoshop designer, clients might asked us to change the colour of the original one instead of retaking the pics. And also with filter and colour adjustments made, the mode of the whole photograph can be different and it also brings different vibes with different filter applied.

W5// Exercise 4 // PROJECT 2A: EXERCISE 1 (PHOTO MANIPULATION)

INSTRUCTION:

https://bit.ly/2S6nLLL

  1. Attach the Project 2A: Double Exposure - PART 1 (DOUBLE EXPOSURE FOLLOW TUTORIAL)

  2. Attach the Project 2A: Double Exposure - PART 2 (MY OWN DOUBLE EXPOSURE)

  1. Attach the Project 2A: Double Exposure - PART 2 (MY REFLECTION)

  • PART 1 (DOUBLE EXPOSURE FOLLOW TUTORIAL)

PART 2  (MY OWN DOUBLE EXPOSURE)

PART 3  (MY REFLECTION)

Throughout this exercise given, at first I find that it’s kinda hard to manipulate the brush tool and the refine edge brush tool while selecting the object out with clean edges. As I keep select and mask the object out with blurred edges which makes the whole outline looks a mess. Then I keep on trying again and again following the tutorial video then I slowly started to understand their principles. After multiple trying, I get to use the tools well to create a good double exposure photography. As we can see, the first double exposure I did following the tutorial wasn’t masked nicely which there’re unmasked parts at the sides. Then, when it comes to my own double exposure portraits I keep on trying then finally it comes out as my expectations.

In this exercise, I’ve learn that some double exposure photographies aren’t capture right away but mostly were created via Photoshop and now I have the skill to create which I think it’ll strongly helps in my future career. For the materials to create them, it’s better for us to choose pics with a solid and contrast background colour which may be easier for us to mask.
