Audio Dubbing Exercises

We were assigned to edit the video in Premiere Pro with the dialogue and scripts given in Google Drive. Audio tracks like hard sound effects and ambient sound are to be applied in the video and also we were asked to use our own voice and edit voice from female to male, human to cute animal (Premiere Pro → Audio Effects → Pitch Shifter → Semi tones).

fig 1.1 - volume adjusted in each audio

I adjusted some audio's volume as some to higher and some to lower. Due to that some sound effects have higher pitch than another which might cover the another audio.

fig 1.2 - total audio tracks  for the whole progress

This is how the total video panels look like with the audio tracks used. I used totally 4 layers of audio in this project exercise. There were totally 2 hard sound effects, 2 ambient sounds are applied in the video and also I recorded my own voice and edit voice from female to male, human to cute animal with using the pitch shifter. Here's my 1st attempt.

After received feedbacks from Mr. Martin, I've added one more ambient sounds as he mentioned needed at least 2, then also I added the hard sound effects on when the guy sits down on the ground and the footsteps of the girl and her dad. Besides, I've also adjusted my voice to a lower pitch using pitch shifter. Here's my final.

Sound Shaping Exercises

For exercise 2 we have to use the audio clip provided and edit the following effects onto it.
- Voice of phone call
- Voice coming from inside of the closet
- Voice of toilet/bathroom
- Underground cave

Tutorial were taught by Mr. Martin's demonstration video posted in slides.

fig 2.1 - effects added for phone call, parametric equalizer

With the tutorial video, we were asked to add parametric equalizer for the phone call effect. Brought down the bass and treble, mid-range increase.

And for muffled taught in video means voice from closet, I used parametric equalizer and brought down the treble, mid-range top. I also increased the bass for a more muffled effect.

fig 2.2 - effects added for bathroom/cave, reverb

Toilet/bathroom:  pumping with custom settings
Cave: Bigger room reverb increase delay

Sound Design Exercises

For exercise 3 we have to use the audio clips provided and edit them based on the following:
- Explosion magnification
- Variation of punch sounds (triple punch)
- Monster of alien voice (select one part from sample voice)

Tutorial were taught by Mr. Martin's demonstration video posted in slides.

For the explosion magnification, I used time stretching and adjusted the pitch also increased the volume. Then I duplicate another layer into track 2 slot to create a greater effects of explosion.

Then, for the punches. I create three different punches with changing their pitch and time stretching. Then I layered them. I also applied fade in fade out as the curves shown as Mr.Martin mentioned all audio clips should have them.

fig 3.1 - effects added for punches

For the alien monster voice, I chose a part of voice from the clip provided. As it was mentioned monster, so I lower the pitch into a more deeper voice and then create delay and some reverb for the audio so it sounds like mumbling in space.
