Task 1

Game Ideas

On this stage, we were asked to come out with three game ideas before we decided on which one to go for our final idea. To start, I explored through the games on the Gamedevzone website to see which ones were the most popular and inspirational. To be perfectly honest, I would say that I don't play games at all, especially computer games. This is why I'll need to play more games in the website given, so I can know what kind of genre I'm actually more prefer to go with. I then decided to focus on fiction, which is one of my favorite genres (I can't choose as most of them are fiction). To be more precise, I would prefer something entirely different, like a fantasy-themed, colorful adventure game, or something unique. Or it could be a survival game that would have a horror theme, dark, and be truly terrifying.

Here's a slides I created for my 3 ideas:

Then I had an online consultation in Zoom with Mr.Razif to see if which idea would be nice to go. He suggested all of the ideas are nice and good to go, he would be fine if I worked with any of them, so he asked me to pick one I like the most.

I've picked the Shadow of the Shogun who players will be playing as the Ninja named Akira on the quest to steal the mystery gold pot in the deep of the temple. This was because I've never tried in creating something in dark and creepy theme, which I would like to try by any chances so ya~ here goes my decision.

Game Design Document

After deciding the idea, I then started to create the Game Design Document for it.

The game is
a 2D Thrilling game with a stealthy ninja named Akira on a dangerous mission in a 12th-century Japanese temple, facing guards, uncovering secrets, and seeking the Mystery Gold Pot in a fast-paced, exploration-based platform game. I have included some of the necessary information for the game outline. More clearly defined infos will be in the Game Design Document below.

Reflection

To be honest, I've been refusing to start learning this module since I know barely anything about "Game"-related subjects. I have zero understanding in any way of game mechanics or even the basics. Fortunately I've learned the fundamentals of the game, how it functions, what its key elements are, how to design it, and other things from this module and the assessments that have been assigned up to this point. Understanding the fundamentals of game design has allowed me to take on a truly amazing challenge for myself: learning how to create my own game. I decided on a dark and exciting adventure genre because I haven't worked in it before and because I thought the concept and story would be interesting.

Overall, I'm quite satisifed with the current stage of development and am excited to transform it into a playable, functional game. Sis is taking five modules this semester, so lets just pray to god and hope that I can complete everything on time and keep up with my other modules. I'm sincerely praying that it will be an enjoyable and enlightening experience for me. Also, please protect me from suffering!
